What is setting?
The setting of the story is the place and time in which the story takes place. Again, that is place and time; not just place.
Settings can be either real or imaginary. Settings are created through detail and description on the part of the author. If the story takes place in the American Old West in the 1880's, it has to look, sound, and feel like that time period. It's the old west, so it'll have dust, horses, rough men with guns, and probably a saloon. It also takes place in the 1880's, so it won't have . If the story takes place in a fictional
